Mary Catherine (Warschak) DeShazo

Mary Catherine "Kay" (Warschak) DeShazo, age 68, of Meadows Place, Texas, passed away on April 27, 2023. Kay was born March 17, 1955, in McAllen, Texas, to the late Leslie and Bessie Warschak. She attended St. Paul Catholic School then went on to Mission Jr. High. Kay graduated from Mission High School where she made lifelong friends. After graduation she went to work for Wyatt's Cafeteria. With her talents and dedication, she quickly rose through the ranks and was promoted to a corporate executive assistant. Later in life she worked for Helfman Ford in Houston.

Kay was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is deeply missed by all the lives she touched in her lifetime. Her vibrant personality, quick laugh and warm smile made everyone around her feel welcome. Kay had a special gift for making people feel valued and cherished, always taking the time to remember faces and names. She never met a stranger and genuinely cared for those around her.

Family was the center of Kay's world, and nothing brought her greater happiness than talking about her beloved grandchildren, Aiden, Ethan, Sadie, and Sammie. She was a dedicated and loving mother to her daughter Ashley R. Trevino and son Aaron R. Trevino. Kay was survived by her husband John DeShazo and her siblings Janice (Jim) Morin, Mike Warshak, Bill (Isidora) Warschak, and Greg (Kristin) Warshak. She had a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly, Mike Perryman, Shannon Perryman, Jacquie (Brent) Johnson, Cathie (Carlos) Vela, Rance Warschak, Ian (Denisse) Warshak, Rev. Josh Warshak, O.SS.T., and Zach (Kari) Warshak. Plus numerous great nieces and nephews.

A burial Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul Catholic Church in Mission, Texas, on July 15, 2023, at 9:00 a.m, followed by a graveside service at Valley Memorial Garden on Taylor Road in McAllen. She will be laid to rest next to her father and mother. When reflecting on Kay's life, remember her easy smile, her caring nature, and the love she shared with family and friends.
