Mr. & Ms. Edge:
I served with Matt for aboard the USS McCloy some 35 years ago now. We were both red haired electronics technicians and, given the tiny size of our ship, we were rarely ore than a few away from each other for weeks and months on end. We were both avid readers, and your son and I often would go at it hammer and tongs over writers and history and politics and music. We disagreed as often as not, but it was good company always. Tonight, a lifetime later, 7 I was telling my wife (yet another) shipboard tale, when she asked if I knew what Matt was doing now. Google led me here.
I am so sorry for you both. I liked Matt, a lot. He was, sincerely, the best shipmate that I ever had. It was my distinct pleasure to have known him.

Rest in Peace, my friend.

To the family of Matt Edge, I want to express my deepest condolences for your loss. I served with Matt in the Navy and considered him my best friend during the time I knew him. We lost touch sometime after we went to our ships but I never forgot our friendship. Every time I hear Bob Dylan I think of Matt, his biggest fan.

I just discovered this sad news and it's like a punch in the gut. He will surely be missed.

To the Edge family,
I am very sad to hear of Matthew's passing. He was my best childhood friend. I tried to locate him several times over the years without success. I only wish I had known sooner.
Rest in peace Matt. Someday we will see each other again. May they have the best books, music, and a pool table.
