On Sunday, December 19, 2004, Matthew M. Gill, age 16, of Ross Twp; beloved son of Thomas J. Gill, Jr and Patrica J. Conner; beloved grandson of Ellen Tambolas Gill & Thomas J. Gill Sr. and Karen Conner & the late Eugene Conner; beloved brother of Thomas J. GIll, III, Michael Gill, Hannah Gill and Lindsay Gill; also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins. Matthew was a 10th grade student at North Hills High School and an avid DEK Hockey Player, playing most recently with Team Pittsburgh. Friends invited Tuesday and Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 in the THE ORION C. PINKERTON FUNERAL HOME, INC., A GOLDEN RULE MEMBER FIRM, 1014 California Avenue Avalon, (North Boros). Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning at 11:00 in the Ridgewood Assembly of God Church, 131 Ridgewood Avenue, West View.

I didn't know you half as well as I would have liked to. I played hockey with you for 4 awesome years, and you taught me alot of what I knew and still know. For the simple reason of just seeing you and my old team-mates again, I wish I never would have quit. I missed you and the guys once I quit, but this makes it even worse. I dont have any right compared to everyone else to grieve, but I do none-the-less. Now, I know where you are, and have at least that little bit of peace in my heart. Pain will never go away, maybe fade over time, but never go away. It's even harder knowing I didn't see you for two years, but the last few memories are some of the best. I dont know you as well as the others that have posted, but I knew you well enough, and that's all that needs to be said. To the Gill family, my prayers are with you 100%. I'm so sorry for your loss. But, at least we all know where Matt is, and that he's looking down on us and smiling. As everyone cries and mourns, just remember Matt. The memories of him might dry the tears, maybe bring more, but just never forget. You were a great player Matt, and a great guy. Number 22 and his memory lives on in my heart. Rest In Peace Matt.

I meet Matt thru my nephew (Hal), that kid was always laughing. I took them all to play paintball and he would laugh, I seen him at the one hockey game I went to and he would laugh and when the tent blew away at the Hockey Bash, he laugh... Remember to laugh and smile when you think of him, just like he did...

Matt there isn't any words that can explain how much everyone misses you and how much I miss you, and ever since I moved we didn't get to chill as much as we did when I was living there but we did always keep in touch we used to be on the phone me, you , and eric till like 4 in the morning talking about the dumbest stuff but i was great oh and the 66 impala we cant forget bout that we had so many plans for that car it would have been just the way you wanted it. Those were the good times, and as much as i wish you were still here i feel that your in a better place and you better save me a spot up there.

Matt was one of my greatest friends and he had many many abilities, playing hockey, being the best friend he could, and always being there for everyone when they needed it most. He would always give you the shirt off his back if you were cold, and always extend an extra helping hand. Matt was such fearless kid, except for clowns. He was great at hockey i'll never forget watching him play down at the dek for Team Pittsburgh. Those boys stuck together, and they all loved Matt. Matt of all people was one of a kind..He was one of the most important people in my life. I met Matt 3 years ago through a family get together at my house. He treated my sister Brittany with alot of love and care. He was very respectful to the rest of the family. He will be missed, and LOTS of tears will be shed, but will always hold a piece of him in ALL our hearts. We love you Matt..RIP.

Let me try this again. Matt you were like a son to me for many years, through good times and bad. I will never forget you, and the fun that you, E, and I had together. I could always count on you to help me out when I needed you to when we went up to the cottage or when we needed that game winning goal.
Matt, may you rest in peace and always look down and watch out for your family and friends.
Tom, Ellen and family. I will always be here for whatever you need, just as you have always been there for Eric. I wish I could change what happened, but we all need to band together and learn and live on like Matt would want us too.

Matt was my student last year in English and Social Studies. Matt loved history, especially military history. He was the kind of kid who never took for granted what you said, he wanted to know more and ask you questions about how things fit with what he knew and why things happened. He was the kid of kid who you thought about long after class and I am privileged to have shared his all too brief life. If Matt could only know we love and miss him.

I was good friends with Matt for about 3 years. He would always make me laugh no matter how bad of a mood I was in. He was a really sweet kid and very respectful. North Hills is NOT going to be the same without him. It is a very sad loss. But I know he is in Heaven watching over all of us. R.I.P Matthew Gill!

Matt was a cool kid. We played on the same dek hockey and roomed together on the Canada trip. I loved how he wasn't scared of no one on and off the dek. I also loved how he was a tough defenseman and offenseman. I will miss all the fun we had at hockey games and on the trips. R.I.P Matt we'll remember you.
