Matthew Schaefer Obituary
Matt leaves behind his parents Fred and Michelle Schaefer of Missoula, brothers Charlie Schaefer of Springfield OR and Joshua Schaefer of Helena MT, sister Andrea Herrera of Ocean Springs MS, nephew Brayden, niece Amelia, both of Springfield OR and bonus niece Karina Herrera of San Antonio TX, special love Kiki Flynn with bonus kids Jace and Scarlett of Puyallup WA. All of whom will forever miss those beautiful baby blues, radiant smiles and warm strong hugs more than words can express. He also leaves behind so many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, his softball and golf teammates and of course, his crazy video gaming families, along with so many very good friends.
Matt was preceded in death by his grandfathers Fred Schaefer, Mitchell James and Monte Monteith, his grandmothers Helen Caron and Annette Gobert and his nephew Drake Thomas Schaefer.
Matthew attended school in Missoula excelling in sports, playing football and running track. Matt went on to college at MSU for a short time. Deciding university wasn't for him, he attended Divers Institute of Technology in Seattle graduating 4th in his class and receiving the class safety award. After school he continued his love of sports with fastpitch softball, slow-pitch softball and golf.
Matt was fun-loving and energetic, requiring a job that was fast-paced with lots of people around him. He was a ray of light always looking for more, he always tried to look on the bright side of things and conquered most any problem he faced. He always had a positive word to say to others and was very quick to make his family and friends laugh. Matt loved unconditionally and he was unconditionally & deeply loved by so many. He believed you are only as old as your soul and he lived life to the fullest, just not long enough!
Celebration of Matt's life will be June 17th, in Missoula, location to be announced at a later date.

I will never forget how you always made me feel. It´s like we were friends who just missed out on growing up together.
I am well guarded. I have a hard time trusting people. I did not know it then but I was in desperate need of a lasting friendship and you just would not take no for an answer, so we hit the ground running. For that, I smile.
The courage you have shown me in the eight years that we spent catching up on missed times is unmatched. I could not fathom leaving Colorado because being too far from home is my biggest nightmare but you did it so gracefully and every time invited me to come with you knowing that things were difficult for me here.
I wish you could have stayed. I wish I went with you cause we aren´t done. I will carry you with me forever, my guy.
