Maureen FRASER Obituary

Published by Calgary Herald on Jun. 25, 2016.
FRASER, Maureen Ann
April 22, 1954 - June 14, 2016
Maureen was a bubbly full of life caring person, always putting others first. She had an infectious laughter and made others feel good, and always carried a positive attitude. She was a long time member of Beta-Sigma- Phi, first in Calgary and recently in Creston, there are many sorority sisters that knew and will miss Maureen. For many years Maureen worked as a volunteer at the Calgary Stampede. She worked for Royal Insurance in Vancouver for a while then moved back to Saskatoon where she was born and raised a family in that area, later moving to Alberta and living in Lethbridge for a while and then moving to Calgary. In Calgary Maureen worked for Grandma Lee's Bakery then moving on to Computer Log, Tehnifluids and The University of Calgary, followed by working for the Brenda Strafford Foundation at the home as well as later at the Women's Shelter. She retired in 2010. Maureen loved her garden at their Creston farm and focused on purple potatoes, purple beans, purple peas, and purple carrots. Her market garden was called the Purple Produce Patch. She grew pansies and lavender as her favorite flowers. She enjoyed meeting people and selling her garden produce. Maureen and her husband loved Hawaii and spent many summers there on the various Islands, always returning up until they started the farm. She loved motorcycling initially on a Virago and later on a Gold Wing. Maureen is survived by her husband William Shaw, her daughter Tracy-Ann Wolfe (and her husband David), her son Stewart Gowler, her mother Rose Fraser, her brother George Fraser (and sister-in-law Barb) her niece Theresa Tarr and nephew Craig Fraser, and brother Gordon Fraser, her nieces Jessica and Jacqueline Fraser, sister-in-law Susan Fraser niece Serene Fraser and grandniece Karynna Fraser, her grandchildren Aden and Kiera Sibley, her sister-in-law Dianne Stanier and niece Heidi Rawson and nephew David Stanier (and wife Janice). In addition, there are many aunts, cousins and friends. At Maureen's request there will not be a funeral. There will be a Celebration of life come and go Tea held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 from 2:00
p.m.-4:00 p.m. Westview Baptist Church (1313 Ranchlands Way NW, Calgary, AB T3G 2A1). A memorial will be held in Creston at the farm some future time.
