Maurice (Boy) Christin Clements, Jr. Obitutiary

Maurice (Boy) Christian Clements, Jr. (age 93) passed away peacefully Saturday morning, July 8, 2017 at his home.

Maurice (Boy) was born on May 10, 1924 to Maurice Christin Clements, Sr. and Lena Olivier Clements in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Maurice (Boy) lived in Baton Rouge until he joined the USS Navy on December 30, 1941 at the age of seventeen. He served in the USS Navy for 21 years living in San Diego, CA. Upon his retirement from the USS Navy, he moved back to Baton Rouge.

He is best remembered as the Baton Rouge native that served on the USS Kidd Destroyer during the war with Japan (April 1943 to Oct. 1946),and survived the kamikaze attach which damaged her on April 11, 1945. His service and contributions to his country and the preservation of our freedom is remembered and appreciated.

He served also on the USS Arkansas, USS Bexar, USS Pickaway, USS Mount Olympos, USS Skagit, USS Souix and the USS Chickasaw in his twenty-one years with the Navy.

Upon his retirement he moved back to the Baton Rouge area and joined the Carpenter Local Union.


He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Beryl Himel Clements, his sister Edwina Duhon of False River, his daughter Candace (Candy) and her husband Jerry Riles, son Christopher Rene' Clements and his wife Carole. He is preceded in death by his Step-son Stephen Williams. He has four grandchildren, Mark, Tony Riles, Kimberlee Riles-Stewart, and Russell Clements. One step-granddaughter Amelia Williams. Eight great-grandsons, Nicholas, Cameron, Cullen, Christian, Caleb Riles, Jarred, Dakota, Jesse and two great-granddaughters, Paislee and Reagan. One great-great-grandson, Hayden.

Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on July 11,2017 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at the Greenoak's Chapel with burial in the Greenoak's cemetary following the service.

Pallbearers will be Mark Riles, Tony Riles, Nicholas Riles, Scott Stewart, Dakota Stewart, J.D. Duhon, Timothy NesSmith, Jerry Borck.


We would like to thank Robert and Toon McDaniel for their dedication and care of Boy during his last few years, along with Gahn Gilbert and Samphao Thongnsavath. These wonderful people went beyond being caretakers, but became his friends and family.

Much gratitude and thanks to the late Mike Dupuy and his wife Margaret for looking after Boy and his wife. And much thanks to his long-time friend Leroy Dupuy.
