Maxine Adams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 6, 2015.
Maxine Lee Adams, 75, of Kewadin, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015.

Maxine was born on June 18, 1940 in Owosso MI, the daughter of Clifford and Margaret (Carl) Tunnacliff. After graduating from St. Paul's High School in 1958, she was wed to the late Leroy Adams. They lived in California where she stayed home to raise their 4 children. She was a strict mother, but also caring. She spoke her mind and was very straight forward. These traits served her well in her career as a social worker after her children were grown. She loved her job working for the State of California in San Bernardino, and she was very good at it.

Maxine was a great friend. While she loved to crochet, play Yahtzee, and do crossword puzzles, she was happiest when surrounded by family. Maxine and her husband enjoyed traveling and bowling together, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren warmed her heart more than they will ever know.

As Maxine aged, her tough exterior softened, allowing closer family bonds to be built. She touched the lives of so many people and will be missed by all.

Maxine is survived by her children, Debra (Richard) Boals, Don (Debbie) Kidd, George (Sherry) Kidd, Steve (Kelly) Adams, and Rick Adams; grandchildren, Rudy (Sherry) Aldana, Trisha Bennett, Darick (Mistie) Kirby, Kurtis (Lucia) Coats, Ethan Boals, Ron Love, Christina Love, Cheyenne Love, Kurtis (Laura) Love, George (Theresa) Fletcher, Seth Adams, Chantel (Andrew) Naearre, Stephanie Adams, Kayla Adams, Vicki (David) Cramer, Valerie (Lucas) Assmus, Gloria (Raymond) Hurt; thirty five great grandchildren; siblings, Jean Melachowski, Maryann (Fred) Bishop, John (Kaye) Tunnacliff, and Carla Farwell; and sister-in-law, Susie Melachowski. Maxine is also survived by her dear friend Mary Boals and her wonderful nurses Lynn and Betty from Hospice of Michigan.

Preceding Maxine in death are her parents, Clifford and Margaret Tunnacliff; husband, Leroy Adams; and siblings, Louise Stevens, Butch Tunnacliff, and Joanne (Dean) Pahl.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids with visitation starting an hour prior. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
