Melissa Lawrence Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 8 to Mar. 10, 2021.
Melissa Friar Lawrence

Benton - Melissa Friar Lawrence, 40, was born in Beaumont, Texas on April 13, 1980 and went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2021 due to a tragic car wreck. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 10, 2021 at Asbury Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m., with Matt Rawle officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 10:00 a.m.

Melissa graduated from Airline High School in 1998. After attending Bossier Parish Community College, she began a fifteen year career in operations and engineering management at US Cellular in Bossier City Louisiana.

She was predeceased by her husband, William Thomas Lawrence; maternal grandparents, William Albert Nohse and Frances Rickett Nohse; paternal grandparents, Gordon and Geneva Friar; and aunt, Rebecca Lynn Nohse.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kylie Mackenzie Lawrence and Katie Grace Lawrence; and fiancé, Brad Johns; mother, Debra Nohse Friar and her father, Gregory Earl Friar and wife Rhonda; sister, Jennifer Helen Friar; brother, Matthew Nohse Friar and wife Amanda and their children, Karson and Kade; aunts, Marsha Pugh, Charlotte Gates and her husband Bill and numerous cousins who loved her dearly.

Also left to cherish her memory are mother and father in law, Ronald R. Lawrence and Deborah Wallace, sister in law, Misty Hernandez and children Isabella and Sofia.

Melissa was a generous soul who lived her life by loving her neighbor as herself. When her neighbor, fondly known as Pops, needed to go to an assisted care facility, she insisted he stay with her at her home. Pops not only became a bonus grandfather to Kylie and Katie Grace but a treasured friend to Melissa. Widowed at an early age, she had recently begun to form a foundation for widows and orphans to assist them in paying bills to ensure that no one else's wife had to bear and suffer in time of need.

Melissa's life was cut short, but her legacy of love, kindness and generosity to all will live on. She was a living example of laying down one's life for her friends and family and truly anyone who needed her help. "No one crossed her path that was not better for it." Her greatest role was that of a mother. Her love and devotion to her girls Kylie and Katie Grace was to be admired.

Pallbearers will be Tabetha Jackson, Justin Burton, Weyland Lawson, Linc Farrington, Jamey Reeves, Nick Parker, Liam Rogers and BJ Ray. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam Balentine, Clint Delaune, Kade Wheat, and Brock Moss.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to The Fallen Linemen's Fund and The Benton Riding Club.

Melissa was an amazing person to work with and know. She was extremely instrumental to the success of many projects and endeavors at US Cellular over the years. I felt like I knew Kylie and Katie Grace a little because she shared so many stories and pics filled with pride and love. She even shared a funny video of Brad driving a forklift with us once. Intelligent, funny, creative, sharp, devoted, determined, direct and caring are words I would use to describe Melissa. She was part of the US Cellular family and will never be forgotten. My sincere condolences to Kylie, Katie Grace, Jennifer, Mrs. Friar, Brad and the rest of her friends and family in the loss of Melissa. My hearfealt prayers are with you all!

Melissa and I worked together for many years at USC. She was always with the Southern Hospitality whenever we got to see each other. I enjoyed talking to her and Jennifer as they always made me laugh. She always had a story about the girls as well. I pray for the strength needed for the family and know the girls will be fine as they are in God's hands. Melissa REST IN HEAVEN!

Melissa was a very bright young lady who was instrumental in the success of the National Logistics Center of U.S. Cellular.

One of the smartest things I did was hire her. An even smarter move was promoting her to Warehouse Supervisor.

She certainly saved my bacon on numerous occasions and she was a loving mother, sister and wife.

After I suffered a stroke in April of 2010 Melissa handled the transition to the Fixed Asset Automation System with astounding ease.

Let there be no doubt I was the boss by title only until I retired in February of 2013. The operation remained successful until 2017 primarily because of Melissa and the other associates she led; not because of me.

My memories of her are very fond and I will always be grateful for her loyalty, friendship, sacrifice and hardwork.

I am greatly saddened over how her life ended and feel badly for those she left behind. I am happy in that she is now reunited with Tommy Lawrence, a tremendous man. God Bless Melissa and hers. In His love,

Mike Rinaldo

Kylie and Katie, I cannot image what you girls are going through. Your mom was one of the most kind-hearted women I ever met, and she and Tommy were nothing short of meant to be. Hold each other close and never ever forget how much your momma loves you. She is with you every second of every day, and she her love will shine brightly in you both in the coming days. Love you both so much, and praying for you always!

I know Melissa to be a beautiful child & young lady. Memories of her are held close in the hearts of family & friends who love her. I think that today nothing can make you all feel better but I pray that you will find comfort in cherishing your memories & knowing that many others grieve with you & trusting our Lord to supply everything that you need.
