Melissa "Mel" (Andrusio) Schon, 43, of Manchester, beloved wife of David M. Schon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Mel was born on September 10, 1968 in Southington to Stanley and Cindee (Stolarun) Andrusio. She had graduated from New Britain High School in the Class of '86, where she had participated in the Madrigal Singers-Show Choir and was Captain of the Cane-Ettes Drill Team which traveled to Disney World and California. She attended Manchester Community College, majoring in Accounting. She always had a love for dance and had even done some some choreography and designed many of her own costumes. She loved the beaches of Cape Cod, Virginia Beach, Florida, but especially cherished her honeymoon to Hawaii. She also loved to bowl and taking care of her pets, Ozzy her Labrador Retriever and Shadow her cat. Mel had worked for the American Red Cross as a phlebotomist and scheduler and most recently as a manager for Liberty Tax Service in Manchester. In addition to her husband and parents Mel leaves her daughter, Ashley Andrusio and her fiancée Joshua LeRoy of East Hartford; her son, Brandon Rooney of Manchester; her brother, Thomas Andrusio of South Windsor; and granddaughter, Annaliese LeRoy. She also leaves her paternal grandmother, Jennie Andrusio, her maternal grandmother, Irene Stolarun, a very dear aunt, Sandy Dellafera and her husband Joe, her uncle, Brian Stolarun, and her cousins, Sean Dellafera and Alexis Stolarun. Mel is also survived by her father-in-law, Wilhelm Schon, brother-in-law, Michael Schon, sister-in-law, Christine Welton and her husband, David, nephews, Dominic Andrusio, David, Evan, and Nathan Welton, and Gregory Schon, as well as many other cousins, relatives and dear friends. She was predeceased by her grandfathers, Bill Andrusio and Fred Stolarun, her mother-in-law, Lianna (Gauvin) Schon and her sister-in-law, Michele Andrusio. Family and friends may gather on Thursday, August 30, 9 a.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at St. Catherine Church in the Broad Brook section of East Windsor. Burial will be private. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 29, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mel's family would like to thank all of the staff at Manchester Memorial Hospital ICU for their exceptional care, especially Dawn for her compassion.
