Melody Ann Gay, aged 62, passed away on December 9, 2024, in Anchorage, AK. Born on March 20, 1962, Melody embarked on a fulfilling career in retail financing after completing her education at Anchorage Community College. Her professional journey began in the mid-1980s at the National Bank of Alaska, transitioning through First National Bank Alaska, and culminating at Denali Federal Credit Union/Nuvision Credit Union as a Payment Processing Rep. 2.

A lifelong member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Melody contributed significantly to her community and her faith through her involvement on the church's finance team. Her devotion extended into her personal passions as a dedicated choir member and an avid sports enthusiast. Melody's love for the Miami Dolphins and the Chicago Cubs was profound, highlighted by her cherished experience of watching the Dolphins play at their home field. Her interests also included Star Trek to the extent of proudly bearing the Starship Enterprise NCC-1701 tattoo. During the pandemic, she picked up diamond art painting and regularly enjoyed Monday night football gatherings with her colleagues.

Melody is survived by her sisters, Nanette C. Gay, Deehan M. Gay, and sister-in-law Jackie Gay. She also leaves behind her cherished niece Katherine R. Dawson (Timothy), nephews Christopher P. Jackson (Tariro), and Mark J. Jackson, niece Carmen Neitsch, two great-nephews, three great-nieces, and one great-great-niece, alongside numerous cousins and lifelong friends. Melody was preceded in death by her parents, James C. Gay, Sr. and Johnnie L. Gay, her brother James C. Gay, Jr., and her nephew Matthew P. Jackson.

A celebration of Melody's life will be held at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 855 E 20th, Anchorage, Alaska 99501, on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 12:00 pm. Attendees are encouraged to honor Melody by wearing their favorite NFL or Dolphin jersey.

My heartfelt condolences to Melody´s family. I worked with Nanette and we became good friends. The whole Gay family were beautiful, fun people, but Nanette and Melody spent a lot of time with me and my three children after I was a newly divorced and somewhat terrified single mother. I have so many memories, but I can still hear her say "Mercy" and see her shake her head each time I would say do something silly. I remember a camping experience where the three of us shared a small tent on a craft fair expedition and laughed a lot about a cramped night of sleeping, crafting at my kitchen table, or going to the movies. I left Alaska many years ago, but some of my fondest memories of being there include Melody and Nanette.

My thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to the family. I will always treasure the trip to Florida with Deehan, Candy, Melody and James to attend a Dolphins football game.
