Melvin Lenwood Jordan September 2, 1964 - November 27, 2012

God saw the road was getting rough; the hills were hard to climb. He gently closed His loving eyes and whispered, "Melvin, peace be thine. Your weary hours, your days of pain, your sleepless nights have passed. Your ever-patient worn out frame will find sweet rest at last." Melvin Lenwood Jordan of Staunton, unexpectedly departed this life on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at the Skyline Motel in Fishersville. He was the third child born to the late Bettie Jo Brown and Fred Eugene Jordan, who he now joins in glory. Melvin attended Robert E. Lee High School and was known for his athletics, but especially excelled in football. He later relocated to North Carolina where he met and married Ann Lou Torain. They resided in Mebane, North Carolina. There were no children born to this union. He was loved by many and known in the community as a hard worker, and a good dad. He often talked of his children and was a proud grandpa of three grandkids. He leaves to mourn his death his son, Matthew, daughter, Shanna, and one brother, Frederick Kelvin Jordan, of Pennsylvania; one sister, Debra Lisa Stuart and brother-in-law, Larry Stuart of Lexington; one nephew, Kelvin Lamonte Jordan of South Carolina; two nieces, Renee Nicole Jordan of California and Bettie Steward of Lexington; one maternal uncle, Curtis and Kathryn; one paternal uncle, Marviin Howard of Staunton; and very special friends, Brandon Marshall of Waynesboro, Mani Patel, and the Marshall and Fisher families. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012, in Lexington.
