Melvin Wilson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 11, 2025.
Melvin Arthur Wilson, born September 1,1941, passed away on August 7, 2025. He died peacefully at his home while on hospice after spending his remaining days quietly enjoying afternoons on his patio, keeping watch over his beautiful yard and all the various birds and animals that he fed on a daily basis-a community of critters that will most certainly be devastated by this loss. A born farmer, he was a quiet, simple, incredibly intelligent man that for almost 50 years spun quietly in the orbit of his outgoing, beautiful wife. When she passed nine years ago, he surprised us all by reinventing himself, developing deep and meaningful relationships with each of his nine grandchildren; attending flea markets, vintage shows, and the annual State Fair; going out for a burger at Shanty Town or the 5-8's, even bellying up to a bar or two, often dancing and laughing. What a gift to us those years have been. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Rose Wilson; his siblings, Lawrence Wilson, Marion Bodeker, and Clarence Wilson, and his beloved wife Roberta. He leaves behind his children, Tamra (Johnnie) Hoeschen, Brett (Gina) Wilson, and Missy (Dan) Tousignant, as well as his adopted doberman and fierce companion, Max. He will be forever missed by his amazing grandchildren-Hildie, Riley (Ethan), Oliver, Kaden, Ryan, Lucie, Jack, Ruby, and Benny-who he lived vicariously through, cheering them on in all of their adventures. We celebrate his fierce determination to look life squarely in the eye; he lived by example and was relentless in his pursuit of creating a life well-lived. Up until two weeks ago, he was working on projects in his wood shop (fixing things on an endless list supplied by all of us) and mowing his sizable yard on his favorite tractor. He was legendary for his quick but quiet wit and his keen observations, but most of all for his limitless kindness to anyone in need who crossed his path. Our hearts are both breaking and incredibly grateful for the gift of him as both a dad and grandpa. We are also so very happy for you dad, as you blast through this beautiful blue summer sky to the host of loved ones anxiously awaiting their reunion with you-beloved son, husband, brother. You are already greatly missed-our sweet, sweet man-but we know you will be there one day, waiting to meet each of us... We love you, Gramps.

A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Visitation at 11:00am and service at 12:00 p.m., followed by a luncheon and open house in Mel's backyard. Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave, Edina

So Beautifully written...my deepest condolences to the Wilson Family.

I was lucky to call him my Godfather and knew him as "Uncle" Melvin. He was one-of-a-kind and will be greatly missed. So happy though that he will be reunited with Berta, together again.
