Melvina H. Meaney

MEANEY, Melvina "Minnie" H. (Mingle) Melvina "Minnie" H. (Mingle) Meaney, 87, of Ellington, and wife to the late Daniel J. Meaney, Sr., passed away Wednesday, (August 15, 2007) at her home. She was born June 25, 1920 in New Britain to the late Michael and Agatha (Brazauskas) from Lithuania. She was a communicant of St. Luke's Church in Ellington and lived in Ellington for the past ten years. Minnie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved her family dearly. She loved reading, traveling and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was an avid UCONN Men's basketball fan. She graduated in 1941 from the St. Francis Hospital Nursing School in Hartford. She was a member of the St. Francis Nursing School Alumni Association. Minnie retired from the Hartford Regional Center in Newington. She is survived by her loving children, Daniel J. Meaney and his wife, Helen of Ellington, Dottie Curtiss and her husband, Tom of Ellington, Patty Marcus and her husband, Lenny of Cleremont, FL and Betsy Meaney of Bristol, RI; her grandchildren, Lisa Vooys and her husband, Jeff of Cromwell, Madeline, Erin, Daniel Meaney of Ellington; her great-grandchildren, Koty and Hunter Vooys of Cromwell; her lifelong friend, Lorraine "Mac" Lagan; her sister-in-law, Kemy Meaney. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, August 19, at the Small & Pietras Funeral Home, 65 Elm Street, Rockville. A funeral procession will form by 9:45 a.m., Monday, August 20, at the funeral home to St. Luke's Church in Ellington for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Services and Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, August 20, at West Meadow Cemetery in Newington.
