Michael Amoroso Obituary
Mike was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Donora, Pa., the son of Guiseppe "Joseph" and Luisa (DeLembo) Amoroso.
He married Mary Lou Hostert on May 2, 1953, in Carnegie, Pa., celebrating 60 years of marriage this year.
He was member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, previously serving as Grand Knight.
Mike was an Army veteran, serving his country during the Korean confict.
His working career was as a professional mechanical engineer. He holds 11 patents in the mechanical engineering design.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Amoroso of Lake of Egypt; sons, Paul J. Amoroso of Pittsburgh and Michael T. Amoroso of Houston; daughters, Marian Gilmore and husband, Robert, of Nashville, Tenn., Betsy L. Amoroso and husband, Tom Braun, of St. Louis, Jeannie Amoroso-Knight and husband, Stephen, of Indianapolis, Ind., Ellen Hampton and husband, Rick, of Portland, Ore., and Karen Waide and husband, Ricky, of Paducah, Ky.; 12 grandchildren, Paul, Tim and Joe Amoroso of Pittsburgh, Laura Davies of Silverthorne, Colo., Matthew Amoroso of Chicago, Greg Fasnacht of Carbondale, Lee Fine of Fort Worth, Texas, Christie Stallings of Royal Oak, Mich., Andrea Fine of Los Angeles, Ross Fine of Indianapolis, Justin Hampton of Seattle and Grace Hampton of Portland, Ore.; four great-grandchildren, Emilia, Olivia and Ma-son Fine and Braxton Davies; two brothers, Frank Amoroso and wife, Patricia, of Roanoke, Va., and Anthony Amoroso and wife, Lori, of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Virginia Sovich of Frederick, Md., and Yvonne Bodnar and husband, Bill, of Viera, Fla.
He was preceded by his parents; two sisters, Amy Altemara and Mary Baggiani; and two brothers, Alfred Amoroso and Louis Amoroso.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Monsignor Thomas Flach officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.
For those who prefer, memorials may be made to Knights of Columbus Humanitarian Fund. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 N. Market St., Marion, IL 62959.
