Dear Dawn, Zach and Family
How lucky we all have been to be privileged enough to share part of our lives with Mike and yourself. You compliment each other so perfectly in so many ways. We consider you both super-heros, in your own quite unassuming manner. It is such an unspeakable loss to break up such a perfectly matched team. I hope that with time Zach will grow to learn and appreciate what a truly amazing legacy he comes from and that one day I can share with him my fond memories of growing up with his dad.
Our most sincere condolences,
Kemp & Linda

Dear Dawn,
John and I loved Mike. We loved his stories, we loved his sense of humour, I loved the way he called me "Nic" and John loved having fly-fishing in common with him, but most of all, I loved him for how much he loved you. Being your roommate when you were still just dating Mike, I got to see your relationship evolve and being in your wedding was such an honour...and knowing Mike was an honour as well. We will always remember him and love him.
With love and deep sadness...
your friends, Nicole and John

Dawn & Family:
Know that you are in the prayers of someone you never met or even heard of. I knew Mike during his University of Waterloo days when we both lived in residence at Renison College. Mike was generally shy and quiet with an off-beat sense of humour but always ready to help out someone who needed a hand. He had a full head of hair in those days but the same mischieveous smile and twinkle in his eyes.
I was saddened to learn of his illness and death and hope you find some small comfort in knowing that Mike touched the lives of many people who long ago counted him as a friend.
May God's peace be with you now and in the days and years to come.

Mike, Dawn and Zach,
Mike, Although we had not seen each other in a while, I have many fond memories of you. One memory that I have of you that still makes me smile, is when Dawn and I would go for walks at night you had to make sure that we had something in our pocket to protect ourselves, which was usually a pen, and you would say "just in case, just please take it." We would take it and we would laugh but it just showed how much you cared about us. That is just the kind of person you were, always making sure people were happy and safe.
Dawn, I just want you to know that you are in my thoughts and my prayers and if you ever need anything please don't hesitate to call.
Zach, I just want you to know what an amazing person your father was, he was always very kind and you should be very proud to know he was your dad.
You are in my thoughts all of you.
Love,
Shelley

I will always remember Mike's kindness and the gentleness of his spirit. He was never loud or a show off. He was, however, always genuine and thoughtful.
