It's been nine days since I heard the news of your passing.
How can this be true?
My body is numb and my heart is heavy with the thought of never seeing you again.
I am taken back to the past when times were easier and we were young
We laughed and played and shared a bond that only cousins do
I then moved onto your graduation party
We are sitting in your Mom's backyard looking through old photo albums from when we were younger.
We laughed and reminisced. You were such a handsome young man
I then move to more current years
I am older, you are taller
You have somehow become my protector
Like a brother that looks after a sister
I don't see you as often as I would have liked
But you are never far from my heart, my soul, and my thoughts
I am proud to say you are my cousin
As I walk around in a daze, I see your smiling face telling me everything will be okay
You have left many people behind that love and care for you so much

I met Mike and spent only a few visits with him when he was with the Nygaards at their cabin. Our cabin was next door. He was always very pleasant, polite and considerate. I liked him even though I never new him well. Everyone is right on about the big infectious smile.

I can still hear his laughter by the far gym doors as the hockey team would wait for the bus while a basketball game or practice was taking place. He will be missed by all who knew him. Mikey...as my brother Kelly said so well previously...you were one of our many brothers. You have been a dear friend to me almost all of my life, nearly 35 years, and we have shared some really great laughs and good times. Michael , I have never met a guy who is so loved by so many. In the last few days I have heard and read so many people share their feelings of how much they love you, how much fun they had just being in your presence, how you absolutely lit up the room the second you walked in with a shout of "SOUTH SIDE"!!!! You mean so many things to so many of us that words just cannot describe our love for you. Just one sums it up, "Brother". You made me feel like a bro the first time we met at 6 yrs old, and I have never for one day felt like anything less. How is it possible that one guy could have hundreds (probably thousands) of brothers?? Your heart and soul and smile are just that big bro! To Mike's family~ Mike was a very good friend to our son-in-law (KP) and our children..words cannot express our heartfelt sympathy. From everything I heard about Mike, he was an awesome friend.
