Michael Richard Factor of Boynton Beach, Florida and formerly of Boston, MA, passed away on March 4th, after a lengthy and courageous battle with heart and kidney disease, surrounded by his family.

Michael was born on May 20th,1935 in Boston Mass and is pre-deceased by his mother Sadie Lazarus Factor and his father Hyman Joseph Factor. He is pre-deceased by his loving wife of 61 years Elaine Marcia Factor. He is survived by his four children Lawrence Factor (Deborah), Tracy Tompkins (Raymond), Jeffrey Factor and his wife Irina Slepak and Carol Rich. He was a loving grandfather to Aaron and Mark Factor who meant the world to him. He leaves behind many caring friends from the Platina Condo Community and Sunshine Jazz Organization.

Michael graduated from Boston Latin School and Brandeis University with a business degree. He married Elaine in 1959 and enjoyed raising a family as well as pursuing travel around the world together.

He worked as an operations manager in retail for much of his career. His extensive business travel afforded him the opportunity to spend much time frequenting jazz clubs and meeting some of his favorite jazz musicians.

After moving to Florida, his dear friend Alice Day connected him with WLRN radio in Miami, where he was a guest host regularly for over 25 years- most recently with 'The Real' Tracy Fields. As '"The Fabulous Mike Factor", he fulfilled a lifelong dream of sharing the music he loved with the world.

In July of 2018 Michael was inducted into the South Florida Jazz Hall of Fame as an entrepreneur and jazz historian which was an honor of a lifetime for him. Michael was a kind, caring and cultured man who will be dearly missed by all of whose lives he touched.
