Michael Hughes Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 28, 2024.
Michael Richard Hughes, known affectionately as Mike, passed away on July 26, 2024, at the age of 58 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Born on February 25, 1966, Mike was a graduate of Penn Hills High School and proudly served in the US Army, embracing the ethos and camaraderie that define military life.

Mike was a true people person, always ready to engage in conversation and share stories. His passions were deeply rooted in his hobbies; he was an avid fisherman, a dedicated volunteer firefighter, and had a keen interest in firearms. These activities were more than pastimes; they were integral parts of Mike's identity, reflecting his love for adventure and commitment to community service.

A bedside military ceremony, honoring his service and dedication to our country, was held. Mike will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in a private burial.

He leaves behind a loving family: his wife, Caren Hughes; son, Joshua Hughes; daughter-in-law, Morganne Hughes; grandson, Landon Hughes; daughter, Jordan Hughes; step-son, Michael Jugila; mother, Betsey Heslet; and brother, Ronald Snee. They, along with his friends and community, will miss him deeply.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, VA Center for Development and Civic Engagement (118V-A), 1010 Delafield Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15215, in memory of Mike Hughes. His legacy of service and friendship will continue to impact and inspire.
