I grew up in Jefferson county when mike was with the sheriff's department. I worked at his fathers store in Lloyd and knew the whole family. Mike was a great person and he never had the better than you attitude because he was a officer. If I ever got into a little trouble he always talked to me about it and let me go. I'm not afraid to say either I even helped him bust people a couple times. I figured I owed him not that I ever got into to serious trouble. When mike left Monticello I felt like I lost a friend. Rest in peace mike. I know you are missed by people all over the country. Peace be with his entire family...immediate and extended.

I met mike in recent years via a neighbor. I grew up with a mom as a farmer but left that life as my dad was military and then I joined the Marines later. I've always had a hankering for the cowboy life, so I had the pleasure of going out with the dogs and cowboys and doing a lil cattle work here and there. My first time out he says "I'm probably gonna cuss yah and scream at yah, you gonna be OK with that"? I said sir, I served in the US Marine Corps, I'm gonna be fine, holler away. He smiled, patted me on my back and said mount up.
Rest Easy sir.

I only knew Mr Joyner for a very short time. I’m new to the neighborhood and he made me feel very welcome. He was kind and very helpful whenever I had a question. I’m from NJ and not very ranch or farm saavy. He indoctrinated me real quickly when one of his cows was in distress while delivering. Me and JR got the call to help. When we got there JR and Mr Joyner went right to work. And me? Well I started videoing the whole process until he hollered for me to pull on the rope. That was my first and only time I delivered a calf! He knew exactly what to do. He was kind and very caring for the mom and baby. A beautiful site to see. Mr Joyner must have been quite a man. In my mind he was an incredible rancher, but more importantly. He was a true gentleman!

I knew Mike for many years when he worked with the Citrus County sheriff's office as an undercover. I worked in law enforcement for Crystal River Police department during that time. Mike always had me laughing with the way he would say certain things. I considered him a friend. Sending sincere condolences to his family during this difficult time. I am a friend of Mike's. Mike saved me from my burning car. He was a great man and my hero. He has done things many people would never even think about while he was in law enforcement. I never heard him brag about nothing that he done to help people. He just got it done. I will finish this with How he was a legend of the True American Cowboy. God bless his family.

Hard to think of what to say about someone who was truly larger than life. Memorable from the first time I met Mike. Gentleman and Cowboy. Always a story on the tip of his tongue. Lived a life most can’t imagine. Loved his stories and memories. But the most important thing about Mike is his love for his family. Diane what a love he had. I’m am so thankful that I met you all and was welcomed into your family just like you all made everyone welcome.

Dianne and family, Bubba & Skeet, my heart is broken for your loss. I along with my 3 sisters grew up in Bradfordville and were next door neighbors to the Joyner family 2 story store and home. The Joyner boys and Rehberg girls spent many an hour playing, our families were best friends, they were like brothers and we loved spending time together. We were the only kids in our neighborhood, this was way out in the country, the homes were far apart.. In our early teens the Joyners moved to Lloyd, although we didn't get to see each other often, we never forgot our love for each other and our wonderful childhood "best buds" . With deepest sympathy to you all, our prayers are that God will give you peace and comfort . In Christ, Peggy Rehberg Johns

Dearest Diane and family,
Mike was a special man and there really aren't words to describe his larger than life presence and ability to get things done. He was funny, kind, and found ways to get things done when no one thought they could be. He was especially protective and looked out for my Mama at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, and for my Dad too. We always felt a special bond and like he, Diane and family were part of our family He will be missed. Diane, we are so sorry and are praying for you and your family.

Oh the stories this man could tell! Real life stories most of us could never imagine. He lived a full life, loved his family, loved his work. Just thinking of his reputation and adventures brings a smile and a twang of pride knowing how many years he spent in law enforcement and the risks that went along with his commitment. Thank you for your service Mike. Prayers for the family! Keep your memories close He was legend.

I had the privilege to get to know Mr. Mike back when he was a bailiff at the Levy County Courthouse during my tenure as staff attorney for the Eighth Judicial Circuit. No matter what was happening at the courthouse, we knew he had it under control. His commitment to the safety of the judiciary was unsurpassed. His love of family, unquestioned. His dedication to the causes he believed in and service to the people of Florida [in numerous capacities], simply unrivaled. Forever a Levy County legend, rest in peace, Mr. Mike. With heartfelt condolences to your family, Jen-Jen

Mr. Mike was one of the greats. He will be greatly missed but his legend will live on in the many stories, jokes and accomplishments that only he could tell and live that we will most certainly pass on. I am selfish in that I did not want to believe that he had passed but I also know that Mr. Mike is no longer in pain and that should comfort me. I can't wait until we meet again and can share a laugh. Prayers to Ms. Diane and family.
