Michael LEIER

LEIER _ Michael 1913 - 2003 Michael Leier, beloved and devoted husband of sixty-eight years to Minnie Leier (Markwart), passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on Sunday, May 11, 2003 at the age of 89 years. Michael will be lovingly remembered by his children, Elaine (David) Cowley and El (Louise) Leier; grandchildren, Darrol (Esther) Cowley, Sandi (Bill), Wendy (Dave), Diana (Bryce), Barbie-Jo (Jamie), Mike, Rob, Len (Kim) and Richard Leier; twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; close friends, Louise and Ralph Hughes and family and Maria Sonnenburg, as well as other relatives and friends. Michael met Minnie while working during the Depression at the Markwart farm located in Oakshella, Sask. Upon being married, November 5, 1934, Michael and Minnie Leier moved to Regina where Mike worked at the Regina General Hospital for fifteen years, then Regina Motor Products for three years before moving to Calgary in 1953 to work for Stampede Pontiac Buick where he received many service awards. Mike retired at the age of sixty-eight to enjoy his family, friends and relatives. Mike was best known for his beautiful smile and was generous to all he knew.
