Michael Andre Moore

Neptune Beach - LTC (Ret) Michael Andre' Moore, 84, previously of Augusta, GA, passed away on March 9, 2025. Michael was the only child of Kenneth D. and Julia Irene Moore of Dallas, TX.

LTC Moore joined the Army in 1960 and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in 1961.

His distinguished career included assignments in Ft. Benning, GA; Ft. Carson, CO; Worms, Germany; three combat tours in Vietnam; Wentworth Military College; Ft. Leavenworth, KS; Camp Uijeongbu, Korea; and Ft. Gordon, GA. His military awards include the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, and Parachutist Badge.

After retiring from the Army in 1984, Mike enjoyed a second career in the automobile business with Bob Beard Ford, and subsequently worked in HR at the Augusta VA Hospital.

Michael was a gifted artist, with one of his combat paintings on display at the OCS Library in Ft. Benning, GA. His love of music was shared with family, friends, and fellow soldiers everywhere Mike was stationed in Worms, Germany, where he played with his best friend for life, Hershel Gober, and Kris Kristofferson. In Vietnam, he and Hershel, along with a band called the Black Patches, entertained troops in outlying areas deemed unsafe for USO tours. Members of this same group, along with Hershel's son, Curt Gober, last performed at a reunion of "Paddy's Gang" and friends in Jacksonville Beach, FL, in October 2021.

Michael is survived by Lynn Moore of Neptune Beach, FL, his wife of 41 years, and their children Amanda Moore of Brooklyn, NY, and Kenneth Moore (Jade) of Ft. Myers, FL. as well as his former wife, Mary L. Moore, and their children Scott Moore (Becky) and LeAnne M. Lovering, all of Augusta, GA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his very special Aunt Eva Merle Myers and Uncle George Beckner. The family is especially grateful for the love and care given by Brianna Juhn, whom Mike considered an adopted granddaughter.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life for Mike on May 24th at Woodbine West's Clubhouse in Augusta. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
