Michael Murray Obituary

Michael D., Sr. Age 63, of Bradford, NY died suddenly on Monday, July 31, 2006. He was born December 13, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Thomas and Louise McCuen Murray. Mike graduated from Father Judge High School in 1960, and over the years, enjoyed taking classes at various colleges. He proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he served as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division, The Screaming Eagles, Bravo Company out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky during the Cuban Missile Crisis. In the years following, he worked for the James Marony Winery, Boeing Aircraft, and various construction companies before becoming a Corrections Officer and Sergeant at Trenton State Prison in New Jersey. After moving from Morrisville, PA in 1981, he started over in the NYS system and again attained the rank of Sergeant. He recently retired from the NYS Department of Corrections. Mike served on the Bradford Central School Board of Education for several years and was a member of the New York State Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association, St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, and the Wayne American Legion Post #1208. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Roseann Crescitelli Murray; his sons, Michael (Jamie) Murray of Galeton, PA, and Tom Murray of Addison; daughters, Patricia (James) McGettigan of Somers Point, NJ, Kathleen (Curt) Bailey of Bradford, and Regina (Edward) Wagner of Bradford; grandchildren, James and Theresa McGettigan; Michael III, Jacqueline, and Kelly Murray; Nicholas and Maxwell Bailey; and Victoria, Allison, and Emily Wagner. Mike is also survived by his brother, Thomas (Elise) Murray of Princeton, NJ; and sisters, Louise (Matt) Land of Westchester, PA, and Maureen Sherman of Northfield, NJ; brothers-in-law, Peter (Judy) Crescitelli of Doylestown, PA, and Ralph (Lynn) Crescitelli of Doylestown, PA; sisters-in-law, Susan (Ralph) Reinart of Naples, FL; Angela Dreyer of Cocoa Beach, FL; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Louise McCuen Murray; his father-in-law, Americo Crescitelli; mother-in-law, Anna DiTullio Crescitelli; brother-in-law, Frank Dreyer; and sister-in-law, Maria Crescitelli. Family and friends may call at Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, NY on Wednesday, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Bradford at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
