PETRO, Michael Joseph Peacefully on June 8, 2009 at Huron Lodge, with his family at his side at the age of 81 years. Cherished husband, best friend and soul mate of Mary (nee Kalina). Loving father of Marianne Thompson and husband Bill ; Michael Petro and wife Cheryl, Mark Petro and wife Lupita and Marty Petro and fiance Lora. Dear grandfather of Dawn Thompson, Bill Thompson Jr. and wife Angela, Christine Pretli and husband Christopher, Marika Petro, Robert Petro, Nicholas Petro, Michelle Petro and Jennifer Petro. Great grandfather of Cole and Connor Thompson, Sonja and Nadia Pretli. Brother to John Petro and wife Irene. Predeceased by sister-in-law Anne Thompson-Summer and by parents George Petro and Anna Petro (nee: Kentos). Beloved uncle to Stephanie Alstott and husband Gary, John Petro Jr. and wife Jennifer, Jason Petro and wife Tania, Marion Sibul and husband Joel, Shirley and husband George Stankovich and James Thompson and wife Stacey. Michael retired from Chrysler after 42 years of service, a member of CAW Local #444 , and for 35 years was the Financial Secretary for the 1st Catholic Slovak Union "Jednota". Michael's passions in life were gardening, travelling especially cruises and dancing with the love of his life. Visitation at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME 1700 Tecumseh Rd. East Friday June 12, 2009 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers Friday at 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Saturday June 13, 2009 at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home then to Sts. Cyril and Methodius Slovak Church for mass of the resurrection at 9:30 a.m. Interment St. Alphonsus Cemetery. In kindness memorial donations may be made to Alzheimers Society or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
