Michael G. "Mike" Savinda, 82, of Penn Hills, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Dolly (Marting); loving father of Michael Jr., David (Michele), Bernie "Sissy" (Rick) Gunderman, Robin, Shelly Shafer, John (Lisa), Beth (Mark), Dennis (Patty) and the late Tony and Susan; grandfather of 25 and great-grandfather of 31. Mike was the oldest son of 10 children. He was an Army veteran who served during World War II and the Korean War and was a coal miner at the Newfield Mine for 40 years. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at SOXMAN FUNERAL HOMES LTD/ROTH CHAPEL, 7450 Saltsburg Road at Universal Road, Penn Hills, where a service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday.
