Michael Wesley Cooper Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 8, 2025.
Our sweet, wonderful, brilliant shining star, Michael Wesley Cooper, of Madrid, Spain and Birmingham, Michigan born July 10, 1985, in Port Clinton Ohio, passed away July 11, 2025, in Madrid suddenly and unexpectedly. There is not enough space to tell the story of this great young man who lived and loved life like no one could. As a traveling paramedic Michael found his calling in helping others, which is something he did his whole life. Quick witted, with an infectious smile he made friends wherever he went. His laugh could light up a room and he was fearless in taking on adventures. If one could build a resume of the things he did in his life it would be a long and interesting one. At an early age while in middle school, Michael would give up his study hall to work with Autistic Children, showing early on how much he cared and gave to others. Michael graduated from Seaholm High School and attended college after graduation. He worked at a Camp in Maine as a senior counselor and wore many hats in many vocations along the way. His dream of being a doctor was derailed when he realized that after a year of pre-med school it would be better to get right after it and become an EMT. He worked as an EMT for Rapid Response Ambulance Service in and around Detroit for a few years. At that time, he went back to school and became a Paramedic. During COVID he signed on as traveling paramedic where he traveled inside the United States to administer vaccines to hundreds during the height of the pandemic. He later joined a firefighting company and traveled up and down the west coast giving assistance and treatment to the firefighters on the front line of many wildfires. For the past 2 years he was employed independently as the only medical person on several ships in the Atlantic used for energy research and installation of wind farms. In all these stops there was one underlying theme, Michael was there to help, touching many with his care and especially his kindness. Michael's passions were many, living life to fullest, helping others, working hard, caring for his pets, and being a great son, brother, and friend. Born to his parents John G Cooper and Cheryl Ann (Boss) Cooper, and brother to Gordon Cooper, they survive him along with Bella, his French Bull Dog. Michael is also survived by countless uncles and aunts, cousins, and literally hundreds of friends all over the Country and in Spain. There will be two Celebrations of life. Tuesday, August 19th at Petruzello's, 6950 Rochester Road, Troy, Michigan 48085. The family will receive guests at 5pm, service at 5:30pm with reception and food to follow. Sunday, August 24th, The Catawba Island Club, 4235 Beach Club Road, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452 from 1-4pm. Michael supported many causes and charities in his life so in his memory we request memorial donations to go to an organization of your choice, one that impacts others who are in need. As Michael would always say, "Peace, love, and good vibes." Sign tribute wall at AJDesmond.com
