Michael Charles Yates, born on the 30th of October 1980 in Houston, Texas,

He graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University in 2002, where he received the Bonnie Brown Award as the top political science graduate. He graduated from the University of Texas Law School in 2007 with honors. He practiced law in Houston, Texas.

After family and his many friends, Michael was passionate about fishing, hunting, the outdoors, and Aggie football. He also loved music, playing his guitar and fiddle, painting and drawing.

Michael was the proud Godfather of Hannah Lynn Doumany of Fort Worth, Texas.

Michael is survived by his parents, Terry Allen Yates and Martha Perdue Yates of Houston, Texas; his brother, John Allen Yates of Houston, Texas; his uncle, Dr. Don Perdue and aunt Judy Perdue of Alexandria, Louisiana; his uncle, Dr. Charles W. Michael and I became friends on a study abroad excursion in Costa Rica back in 2002. Besides a reunion trip some of us made in 2004, I only saw Michael a few times over the recent years. However, we always remained in contact and very good friends. That is mainly because of the positive impact he made on my life and probably the lives of anybody that he ever met. He was so incredibly funny, smart, and would give a stranger the shirt off of his back.

My heart aches. Ross was blessed to have Michael in his life. They were the closest of friends. True Aggies as they went through UT Law together. They laughed, they had deep talks and just shared life. Michael (who was just called Yates)was a beautifully creative, unique man who made memories that will never fade. Yates we love you!
