Mike Farrar

John Michael Farrar (Mike, Mickey, Dad, Pop Pop, age 72) passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his family on April 2, 2024 after a brief but intense illness. He is survived by his wife, best friend and soul mate, Judi; son, Todd (Beth); daughter, Lauryn (Andre Graves); 6 very active grandchildren (ages 18 months to 12 years) who absolutely kept him going; a brother; several nieces; and many friends.

Mike grew up in Canandaigua, NY and Boulder, CO and growing up in those places skiing - both water and snow - became a lifelong interest. He attended Franklin and Marshall College ('73) where he met Judi, the love of his life. F&M was a special place for them, and they were married in the campus chapel in 1978 after their first road trip west and settling in Honeoye Falls, NY. Mike was happy to return to campus for his 50th class reunion in October 2023.

Mike worked as a packaging engineer at Exxon Mobil/Tenneco/Pactiv for over 30 years. After retiring, his focus was home projects and his music. He and Judi enjoyed winters in Florida with family and new friends.

A man of carefully chosen words, Mike's insights and gentle guidance will be missed. Most of all he loved being on the lake, at the beach, or in the mountains; traveling with his wife; quietly playing his guitar; connecting (and reconnecting) with friends; trying new wines; eating fresh seafood; and baking with his grands - Pop Pop's chocolate chip cookies were a family favorite.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the Farrar family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Cleveland Clinic Florida to support ongoing research and the enhancement of patient care for those battling head and neck cancers.
