Mildred Towner Obituary
November 18, 1948 - January 5, 2015
Mildred "Millie" Towner passed away January 5, 2015, at her Grand Junction home, she was 66.
Millie was born on November 18, 1948, in Gunnison, Colorado from the union of Grant and Mary Crawley. She spent her childhood in the San Louis Valley where her father moved throughout looking for farm work. She graduated from high school in Gunnison, Colorado in 1967, and married Paul Towner on March 21, 1984, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She worked as a waitress for 20 years, for Safeway for two years and six years at Wal-Mart where she received the Associate of the Month Award for January 2008. She lived in the Grand Junction area for eight years, moving from Craig, Colorado and enjoyed sewing and thrift shopping activates. She was a fan of entertainers Elvis and Dolly Parton and enjoyed early morning strolls in her flower garden looking for new blossoms. Friends and family will remember Millie saying "I yam what I yam".
Millie leaves behind her husband, Paul Towner of Grand Junction; five daughters, Kelly Watson of Craig, CO; Connie Earle of Gunnison, CO; Alison Towner of Craig, CO; Denise Peek of Pueblo, CO and Pam Towner of Craig, CO; four brothers, Randy Crawley of Gunnison, CO; Chuck Crawley of Eudora, KS; Robert Crawley of Gunnison, CO, and Leroy Crawley of Olathe, KS; four sisters, Mary McLoskey of Alamosa, CO; Thelma Middleton of Lamar, CO; Norma Henderson of Craig, CO, and Shirley Clark of Denver, CO, and 16 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
No services are planned at this time.

It was with great sadness that I read of my Gunnison classmate's passing. I remember Millie fondly. After our last high school reunion in Gunnison, I learned she was living and working here in Grand Junction, so I stopped by Walmart to visit with her briefly. How sad that I can't do that anymore. What a loss.
