I have only read of Milne's passing away by chance - a patient told me very recently. I shared an office with Milne at East Birmingham Hospital shortly after I was appointed as a consultant ophthalmologist in 1986,and he was great fun to be with. He
provided a tremendously effective Neurology service for our patients and instilled in us younger consultants a healthy suspicion
of NHS management. A privilege and fun to have known him.

He was an excellent teacher and clinician. I was his Registrar at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and he provided me with a priceless reference for my move to USA. Always will be remembered.

I may have been only one of Dr Andersons patients, but in my eyes he was the nicest, kindest Consultants you could wish for over the ten year+ I was his patient.
My sympathies are with his family, I am so sorry for your loss, he was a very special man.

We were very saddened to hear of Milne passing away. He was an institution in himself. I had the good fortune of working with him in MCNN Smethwick for over 2 years. He was an inspirational to all of us. I owe much to him what I learned in Neurology and able to put into practice in Peshawar, Pakistan where I work now.
We offer our deepest condolences to Pat and the rest of the family. May God give you the courage and patience to bear this loss. We have very fond memories of him.

A truly special man, full of humour and generosity. There will never be anyone quite like Milne. He enriched our lives with his friendship and we will miss him dearly but will remember him frequently with much affection and a jolly good old laugh.

I first met Milne (and later Pat) when we went up to St Andrews in 1960. We shared a room at Hamilton Hall in our second year so that there would be a place to play bridge ... neither of us were that good, but it was great fun. I still remember his box of bones under his bed from anatomy class and the hours he spent studying Gray's Anatomy. An incredible artist in addition to being a dedicated student ... a true friend ... I will really miss you ... Ron

Well known to us since 1968-firstly as an inspired and inspiring teacher of common sense medicine and then as a sincere and quirky friend and mentor for many years in Birmingham and Lochaber.
