Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 31, 2024.
Milton Livingood Milton Dale Livingood, age 88, of Northfield, formerly of Rochester, had his faith turned to sight and went to his eternal home on Sunday, Dec. 29th, 2024.

Milton was born to Kenneth and Mildred (Johnson) Livingood in Postville, IA on March 16th, 1936. He attended elementary school in Postville, IA and Lenora, MN and finished high school in Canton, MN. During those years, he played football, basketball and baseball. He graduated from Canton High School in 1954. He enlisted in the United States Army and spent most of his 2 years at Fort Benning, GA. In the fall of 1957, he attended Winona State and earned a B.S. Elementary Education degree in 1961. He got a teaching job with the Burnsville, MN school district. Also, during 1957, he met Marlys Kiehne and they were married on March 1st, 1959. They went on to have four children.

After teaching 5 years, he went full-time with World Book, Inc. He believed strongly in education and wanted every child to have access to these encyclopedia books. He worked with World Book for 16 years, 5 years in Long Beach, CA before moving to Owatonna, MN to be close to family again. In 1983, he passed the exams to become a financial planner and started working with IDS in Rochester, MN and later moved to Olmsted Financial Group until retirement. In 2005, Milton and Marlys sold their home and everything in it via auction and became full-time RVers. They volunteered with The National Wildlife Refuge that took them to many amazing places. Some of their favorites were Texas, Georgia and Alaska. They did this for 5 years and eventually settled in Northfield, MN for Milt's remaining years.

Milt is survived by his loving wife, Marlys; children, Sue Ellen (Jeff) Abramowski of Lisbon, NH, Leah (Mike) Zandaroski of Coon Rapids, Jennifer (Wade) Ouren of Rochester, and Lindsay (Sue) Livingood of Owatonna; nine grandchildren, Sarah (Stephen) Marsh, Brandon(Deidra) Livingood, Kelsey (Daniel) Marsh, Lisa (Dan) Sardilli, Rachel (Andrew) Hoover, Olivia (Isaac) Elseth, Mitchell (Jolayne) Zandaroski, Luke and Levi Ouren; and nine great-grandchildren, Lucy, Cyrus, Everett, Audrey, Calvin, Simon, Isla, Elias and Rhodes; and step-great-granddaughters, Kamryn, Brooklyn McCall. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert, Darrell, Paul (Janet) and Garland; and sisters, Ivanelle, Donna, June, Mavis and Maryann.

A special thanks to Milt's caregivers from Synergy Home Care: Marsha, Carrie, Aleks and Sheku. Also, St. Croix Hospice was very supportive for the family during Milton's last days.

A celebration of Milt's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Emmaus Baptist Church in Northfield. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and a luncheon will follow.
