I am sorry to hear of the passing of "Uncle Miltie." He was the principal of my middle school and he was a very good school person. These are scarce; I have been involved with schools for many years and know that well. Such individuals enjoy the luxury of a legacy they create for the future. Congratulations on your good works, Mr. Ortiz. Rest in peace. And my condolences to your family.

God Be With You

Milt was a real friend and so much fun to be with for so many years. He lived life every day to the fullest. He brought joy to himself and all his friends by constantly teasing everyone about anything he could think of.

Dolores, my best wishes go to you and your entire family.

Miltie,Miltie, Miltie, just to hear his name brings a smile. How do you describe a forty year friendship in just a few lines. We have had the joy of knowing Miltie and Dodie as close friends for many years. We were all young families, drawn together in a small North Jersey town with a funny name: Succasunna.
During his final days, Tracey and I started trading "Miltie-isms, "all of which made us laugh . He was a presence larger than life! Somewhere along the way, I nicknamed him "Montezouma," and he nicknamed me "Big Red,"names which have stayed with us all these years.
His reputation was built upon being a loving husband, father, grandfather,a teacher and educator, a community volunteer, but most of all being a good friend. Many of us have fond memories of him "holding court" at parties, arguing the pros and cons.... often of Women's Lib,which was so topical then. He,of course ,defended the "cons". Of all his titles, I know he enjoyed that of Pop Pop to his nine grandchildren the most. We hope in time your sadness will ease and you will find great comfort in the "colour" of Miltie's life, and many, many "Miltie-isms". He will never be forgotten....he would not have ALLOWED it. As his beloved dolphins continue to swim past his window, I know they will flip their fins as a final salute to "BIG GUY".
With great admiration to a very loving family.
Fondly,
Maureen and Woody

Big Daddy
I guess you finally got the pink memo in your mailbox from The Big Daddy upstairs-"Milton my son-please see me in my office at your earliest convenience"
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being my unofficial mentor when I arrived at your door step at the Intermediate School back in 1983-My girls still have fond memories of you sharing your ice cream cups when they came to visit-They were always excited to see Big Daddy-You taught me many things that have become part of the fabric of my life-If it were not for your guidance and understanding during my formative years in Randolph-I would not be the teacher I am today or have what I have-I can still remember the hug we shared your last day in Randolph as if it were today-You were a special man-You will forever be in our hearts.

Hey Pop, Just stopping in to say that our heart breaks a little more each day knowing you are not with us. Your smile was contagious and your sense of humor always had us laughing. Please continue to watch down on our family and to help guide and protect us during our future stuggles. We all mourn knowing we will not be able to see you again but also know that you are in a good place. I am a lucky girl to have been able to spend these last 8 years calling you Pop and spending summer vacations with you. LBI will not be the same without you. Your spirt lives on through each and every one of your children and grandchildren. I love you and miss you dearly. Sending hugs to heaven.

Miltie, You are sorely missed, that wonderful sense of humor, and very quick wit will never be forgotten. You had some of the greatest facial expressions ever. You were a teacher, a leader, a republican, a patriot. You will be remembered for all those things and more, but most of all for being a dad. You will always be in our hearts.

Thank you for allowing me to spend the rest of my life with your beautiful daughter.
Rest in peace!

Dear Mrs. Ortiz

I hope this memory of you and Mr. Ortiz brings you some comfort.

My husband Paul and I would often see you and Mr. Ortiz having breakfast together at the diner on Route 10 in Succasunna. Even though he was not at school, he and you were “teaching”.

Every time we saw you, there was an obvious affection and enjoyment between you. One time when we were leaving and happened to pass your booth you were holding hands across the table while having coffee.
.
The lesson we learned was that it did not matter how long a couple had been married ,despite messages to the contrary, there is no better joy that to feel affection and friendship toward your spouse.

Thank you for the precious lesson.
