I met my "pen pal in Pittsburgh", Mitchell, on a flight to DC in 1999. The entire flight and shared cab ride afterwards, he regaled me with his wit, wisdom, and humor. We stayed in touch via email, and every hurricane that approached New Orleans, he'd telephone me to make sure I was OK. He was a joy to know and I will miss his friendship. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. He was one of a kind.

Words cannot express my appreciation for having your father, grandfather and friend in my life. He was a mentor, a friend and a kindred spirit. My life is better for having known him and his loss leaves a hole that cannot be filled. My love and prayers to you all.

Dear Louise and Susan,
Sharon and I offer our condolences to you on your Dad's passing, may "his memory be for a blessing". Mitch was among my first faculty mentors at Duquesne when I joined the faculty in 1970. I will always recall with pleasure the many conversations that he and I had about his past experiences as well as his frequent comments and advice relative to our mutual circumstances at the University. He will be sorely missed.
