Monica Durkin Obituary
After her parents relocated the family to Phoenix in 1968, Monica and her seven brothers and sisters grew up in the same house and attended Saint Francis Grade School.
Monica attended Xavier High School and graduated in 1978. Upon graduation from Xavier, Monica attended Phoenix College and later started her career in Insurance and banking as a Customer Service Representative.
Monica worked for many companies during her 40-year career including, AAA insurance, AppleOne, Aerotek, Adecco and the Department of Economic Security for the State of Arizona.
Monica was an avid sports fan and almost never missed watching her favorite, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football team.
Monica's brother Jim and both her parents proceeded her in death. Monica is survived by her brothers Paul (Anne), Peter (Connie), Mark (Kathleen) and John (Joe) and her sisters Mary "Molly" and Brigid (Philip). Also surviving are her nieces and nephews, including nieces Kathleen (Steven), Maureen, Elisabeth (Andy), Edward (Leah), Stephanie (Brad), Christopher (Lacie), Melissa, and Katherine, and her 15 great-nieces and nephews.
A small service will be held at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church on September 14th at 10 AM with reception to follow. Monica will be interred at Saint Francis Catholic Cemetery.

Monica was always a quirky friend (but we all were in those teenage years!), but was always a GOOD friend & I loved her laughter...she, Marybarb & Shannon & I always hung out together having fun at the games or dances. I was so thankful to reconnect with her on Facebook & treasured each time we "connected". Sad she didn't make it to our wedding 5/86, but she'd overslept & I understood. Miss her & wish we could have known what was happening all these years with her health. Thought she'd just deleted FB like so many friends... She loved her family so much & proud of them all :-)

I was home when she arrived from the hospital-I'm her older brother Mark. She was awesome and I will miss her very much.
