Monica Marie Soileau, 50, was called home on May 3rd, 2023 in Beaumont, TX. She was born in Lake Charles, LA and grew up in Westlake. She was a driven and outspoken leader, athlete, and student at Westlake High School, where she graduated in the Class of 1990. She began working at ConocoPhillips in 1994 and climbed the ranks within this company for 15 years. Monica centered her life around God, family, and friends. She became an ordained minister and made it her mission to bring others to God through her testimony. She was a published author for a novel detailing her early childhood and the struggles that came with it, explaining how she overcame it. She also created and published Christian Star Magazine for several years. Amid being a devoted wife, mother, minister, and mentor, she continued to challenge herself and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from McNeese University in 2015. After leaving Conoco, Monica began focusing her career on business and logistics consulting, where she quickly found much success.
Monica had a heart of gold and never thought twice about helping any and everyone feel better. Loving and uplifting others came naturally to her. She volunteered at United Way from 1990-2018, where she served in numerous roles over the span of 28 years. She was particularly passionate about helping victims of domestic violence through prayer, action, and guidance, and volunteered at the Calcasieu Women’s Shelter for over 20 years. Monica was a unique, kind soul who was always rooting for the underdog. She had a strong sense of civic responsibility and wanted to give back to the community in every capacity she could. Most memorably, Monica had a warm smile that lit up any room she walked into. She was a vibrant and lively person also, no matter what the occasion.
Monica had a tremendous amount of work effort, but she also knew how to have fun and enjoy her life. She enjoyed dancing to all kinds of music, working out, going for long runs, and food and wine tasting. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed stand-up comedy. More than anything, Monica loved traveling and experiencing different cultures. Some of her favorite places to travel were Italy, Greece, Toronto, and New York City. In her later years while living in New Orleans, she broke into the modeling and acting businesses and was able to work with some of her favorite celebrities.
Monica Marie Soileau is survived by her husband of 28 years, Rolland Soileau; daughters, Hailey Paige Walton (Hermon and daughter Danielle Phillips) and Heather Elaine Soileau; brother, Derrick Singleton (Sasha and daughters Ariel, Ariana, and Amiyah and son, Nicholas Singleton); and parent Molly Matthews. When Monica met Rolland, she became a proud stepmother of Rolland’s children, Justin and Kayla, and through them a grandmother to Allyssa, Kayla, Jada, Ariana, Janae, and Melayah. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and close friends that she loved deeply. Monica Marie Soileau was preceded in death by her father Freddie Singleton, her grandmother Mazie Guillory, and her grandfather Alex Guillory.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 13, 2023 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. Pastor Ray Rougeau will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM until the start of the service. A repass will be held at Treasures of Marilyn at 3510 5th Avenue. .

I live in Georgia now, but just heard the news of Monica’s passing. I’m truly heartbroken. She’s was always such an uplifting person; I have nothing but fond memories of the years she and I worked together. Prays sent up for the Soileau family.

To family of Monica, especially Roland, Heather, Haley and Molly: Losing a loved one is so difficult. I pray with each day that passes you find a little more strength, a little more peace, a little more hope and a little more contentment from the memories created while she was here on earth. I pray the Lord mends the broken pieces of your heart every single day, a little at a time as you continue learning how to adjust, how to live without her until one day it becomes more bearable. My prayers are with you all. Rest in peace, Monica.

I met Monica when I was a college student hanging out at the coffee beanery (I miss that place). She was having a signing for her first book and we chatted for a while. I'd sporadically see her in social settings for a few years until she moved to New Orleans. I kept up with her via social media. I remember Monica as a very caring and social person. This is quite a shock. I know that Heaven welcomed her with open arms. Rest easy, friend and condolences to your family and loved ones.
