Morris Lewis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 25, 2011.
Marvin was 61 years old. He lived in Fresno, California. He passed away at home early on Monday, January 24, 2011.

Marvin was born on March 6, 1949 in Waterloo, Iowa, son of Maurice and Beatrice Lewis. He and Linda M. Lewis were married in Huntington Park, California, on June 15, 1974. Marvin was a Vietnam Veteran. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star. Marvin graduated from Huntington Park High School and entered the U.S. Navy shortly after. He worked many years for the Santa Fe Railroad and from there he worked for Amtrak. Later he started his own business as a contractor. He was very talented and extremely dedicated to his work. He was an artist and loved his creations. Marvin traveled all over the world – he did not like to stay in one place for very long – but he always stayed in contact with his family and friends.

Marvin was a die hard fan of the Raiders. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He joined the church as a teenager in Los Angeles, California, and he had a very strong faith. He also had a great sense of humor; no matter how bad things were, he could always make you laugh. He always had a positive attitude, and with his generosity overflowing, he was a big brother to everyone. He would give you the coat off his back, and was always there to help whenever someone needed anything. It didn't't matter how big or small the job.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Linda, of Fresno; his brothers, Maurice of Joshua Tree California and Alvin Lewis of Russia; Sisters, Shirley Scott of Hemet, California, and Mary Lewis of Joshua Tree, California; his many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, five sister-in-laws, six brother-in-laws, and many good friends. Marvin loved, and was greatly loved, by all.

He Lived –
He Laughed –
He Loved –
He Did It His Way

"Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to
new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom.
Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.
They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints
on our hearts, and we are never ever the same."
