DELAVAN - Morton C. Morris, MD, also known as "Bud" or "Doc," of Florissant, MO, formerly of Delavan, went to be with his Lord on Sunday morning, August 13, 2017. After a long struggle with heart failure, Bud spent his final days in St. Louis, surrounded by family and friends. 
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 49 years, Shirley (Erisman); and his eight children, Greg, Ed, Don (Paula), Chuck, Bob (Heather), Tim (Rochelle), Carolyn (Marc) and David. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Lydia, Sam, Ben, Jason, Toby and Josh; three brothers; and countless friends.
Doc was born in 1940 and lived in various places before settling with his family in Delavan, IL. He practiced medicine in Delavan for thirty-five years, where he was instrumental in founding the Delavan ambulance service. He also served as a missionary doctor in Zambia for four years. After retirement, he continued to serve as a lay pastor and prison minister.
Bud's passions in life were his Lord, his family, his friends, his motorcycle and his poetry. He could often be seen touring the countryside on his bike, looking for wildflowers and butterflies to memorialize in photo and rhyme.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Prairie Bible Church in Delavan. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, also at the church. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan.
Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
