Funeral services for Mr. Ernest Edward Davis, 77, Tyler, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Hopewell Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Efrem Collins as eulogist.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Community Funeral Home of Tyler. Mr. Davis died May 4, 2015, at Mother Frances Hospital.

He was born Sept. 1, 1937, in Smith County and had resided his lifetime in Smith County. He attended Emmett J. Scott Senior High School and Texas Southern University. He was a member of Hopewell Valley Baptist Church, the Male Chorus, usher ministry and OETBA. He was also treasurer of Railroad Brotherhood, active in public relations of laymen and mentor at John Tyler High School. Mr. Davis retired as an engineer from Union Pacific. Mr. Davis also served in the United States Army

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Survivors include spouse, Lorene Steward Davis, Tyler; two sons, Daryl Davis, Tyler, and Ernest Edward Davis Jr., Dallas; two daughters, Treasa A. (Rickey) Gee, Dallas, and Edna M. Smith, San Antonio; two sisters, Jo Carroll Davis and Evelyn Davis, both of Tyler; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 8, 2015, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Community Funeral Home of Tyler.
