Myra Hanson

Myra Lee Hanson, 90, of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Friday, April 24, 2009 from 6-8 pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 10am in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Lammons officiating. Interment will be Spring Valley Cemetery, Mathiston, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mrs. Hanson was born March 23, 1919 in Starkville, MS to the late Walter L. and Myrtie Harpole. She was a resident of Columbus, MS for the past sixty years, having moved from Mathiston, MS. Mrs. Hanson was retired from American Bosch as a production line worker with 23 years of service. Everyone knew her as "Mamaw Hanson". She loved arts and crafts, especially flower arranging and quilting. Mrs. Hanson was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband - Oscar Frank Hanson; daughter - Dorothy Fowler; sons - James Hanson, William Earl Hanson, Jimmy Hanson; sister - Ella Mae Raines and brother - Walter Lee Harpole, Jr. Mrs. Hanson is survived by her daughter - Betty (Albert) Coleman, Columbus, MS; sons - Milton Hanson, Columbus, MS; Carl (Wilda) Hanson, Chattanooga, TN and Billy (Ginger) Hanson, Columbus, MS; grandchildren - Patricia Harris, Diane Moore, Melissa Howard, Larry Coleman, Doug Coleman, Andy Coleman, Leslie Hanson, Karla Harwood, Hollie Hanson, Jill H. Wigfield, Jason Hanson, Joey Hanson, Clint Hanson, Stanley Hanson and Crystal Hanson; ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Minnie Boyd Armour, Former Employees of American Bosch, Dr. Brett Brown, friends and loved ones.
