Myrna Larsen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 12, 2025.
Myrna Larsen (née Wayman), age 87, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, in Glendale, Arizona. Born on July 1, 1938, in Delhi, New York, Myrna lived a vibrant and fulfilling life marked by devotion to family, a deep love for animals, and an adventurous spirit.

In the early 1970s, Myrna relocated from Buffalo, New York to Tempe, Arizona with her daughter Jennifer to be closer to family. This move opened a new chapter in her life, both personally and professionally. She began working in a veterinary office and soon discovered her calling in animal care. Over the years, she managed several veterinary practices with dedication and compassion, always striving to find homes for animals in need.

Myrna's zest for life was evident in her many interests. She remained active throughout her years and enjoyed a wide array of hobbies including antiquing, bicycling, boating, camping, fishing, hunting, motorcycling, off-roading, shooting, skiing, swimming, and traveling. Among her most treasured memories were her trip to Las Vegas with her sister Gail and her Niece Sherri, her annual motorcycle trip to Sturgis, S.D., and her trip to Graceland. She was also an avid football fan, as a former season ticket holder for the ASU Sun Devils and the Arizona Cardinals.

Whether exploring nature or navigating new terrain in her Toyota Landcruiser, on her bicycle, or on skis, she embraced every adventure wholeheartedly. She even found time to volunteer her time to support the local PBS channel, KAET, by answering phones during their annual telethon.

Myrna's organizational talents were legendary-especially when it came to hosting the annual family Christmas party. Myrna had an exceptional memory for birthdays and anniversaries and was always quick to offer warm wishes or lend a helping hand. Her sharp wit and generous heart made her the center of many cherished gatherings.

Myrna is survived by her daughter Jennifer; her stepson Tom, her two cherished grandsons Tommy and Brent; her precious great grandchildren Samantha, Lauren, and Axel; her sisters Gail and Sandy; and her brothers Gary, Dennis, Dale, Danny, and Jerry. She was preceded in death by her

father Burton Wayman; mother June Wayman; birth mother Marjorie Garrison Wayman; Uncle Malcom Garrison; Aunt Marion Garrison; along with her sister Pat; and her brothers Jim and Ronnie. Myrna's legacy is one of strength, kindness, humor, and unwavering love-for both people and animals. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.

Congratulations Myrna, on a life well lived!

Oh my dear Foxy, I will always cherish our bond. All the lunches, sweet treats and fun we had. You didn't always make it easy but love you just the same. Lead the party, sip the tequila and red wine, wear the furs and the red polish. I could go on and on. Love you always Foxy.

Aunt Myrna was such a remarkable person and will be deeply missed. I hold dear so many memories of her-her warm and welcoming home, her beloved dogs, our family gatherings, and the beautiful pink quilt she made for me, which I still treasure.

She always greeted us with genuine joy and open arms. As I grew older, I cherished staying connected with her-listening to her stories, sharing laughs, and flipping through photo albums together. Those moments were a gift.
I'm especially grateful that my daughter, Jaidyn, had the chance to know her. They shared a special bond and spent meaningful time gardening together during visits. I am grateful we were able to visit and spend time with her just a few weeks ago.

Her kindness, spirit, and love will live on in all of us. We love you and will miss you dearly, Aunt Myrna.
