Myron (Mike) Karr

It is with profound sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of Myron A. Karr on Friday, August 20, 2021 at the age of 80. Mike died peacefully, surrounded and held by his children and partner in his New York City home.

Mike was born July 23, 1941 to Ruth (Cohen) and Irwin Karkus and raised in Maplewood, NJ and raised his two children, Laurie and Larry Karr in Short Hills, NJ.

He was known for his quick wit, curiosity, love of learning and above all, his generosity and devotion to family. Mike showed incredible resilience in the face of health challenges. While his health and mobility declined in his final months, his zest for life and capacity for joy remained undimmed and lit up all lucky enough to be around him.

Mike was fortunate to have met his loving partner Rochelle Levy, with whom he shared many memorable adventures. They enjoyed culture, travel and gardening together.

Professionally, Mike was respected for his vision and leadership in his industry. At 26, he founded a specialty printing firm, Karr Graphics, that continues to thrive over 55 years later.

Mike is survived by his devoted children, Laurie Karr of New York and Larry Karr and his wife Mary LaRuffa and their children Grace and Sam Karr of New York; his loving partner, Rochelle Levy and her son Frank Levy and his wife Kerty and their children Kiki and Mia; his beloved sister, Sylvia Furash of Massachusetts and his nieces Deborah Hoffman and husband Matthias Hoffman of Florida, Lynda Furash and husband Swapan Rahman of Massachusetts and their son, Ravi of California.

Mike was buried at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, New Jersey, on August 24th, 2021.
