Myrtle Esther (Kivley) Larsen died peacefully at LB Broen Home in Fergus Falls on Dec. 13, 2024. She was born in Bellingham, Washington on September 28, 1928, the youngest of 8 children. She attended Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta, Canada for high school and college.

On June 22, 1951, she married Morris C. Larsen and served with him as a missionary in Japan from 1954 - 1971, as well as at churches in the Midwest and Washinton. They were married for 66 years. Preceding her in death was her son Samuel in 1964, her husband Morris in 2018, her parents and all of her siblings and their spouses.

Myrtle loved her family and made many friends throughout the years, especially through their missionary work and in the churches where Morris pastored. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends - her pancakes were a favorite - and she entertained often. Two of her favorite activities were shopping and redecorating/rearranging her furniture.

She is survived by 5 of her children: Joy (Gaylan) Mathiesen, Nate (Deb) Larsen, Dan (Marshalyn) Larsen, Dave (Heidi) Larsen and Joni (Gene) Kubesh. Also 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends.

Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 2pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Brethren Church, Fergus Falls, with Pastor Dale Hexum officiating. Memorials can be given to Lutheran Brethren International Mission in Fergus Falls, or to Unseen Ministries in Fargo, ND.
