Funeral services for Myrtle Louise McCullough, age 82, of Conroe will be held on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home.
Myrtle was born December 6, 1928 in Sabinal, Texas and passed away on December 28, 2010 at her home in Conroe, Texas. She was a camp nurse for 31 years at Bandina Christian Youth Camp. Myrtle was a member of the Gathering Place Alzheimer's Organization. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William John Goggans, Gerald Ellis Shaw, Gordon Allen Caraway and J. L. McCullough; son, John Goggans; and daughter, Alice Faye Morrow. Myrtle is survived by her daughters, Candace Hagan and husband David of Willis, Sarah Carlin of Texarkana, Nora Cagle and husband Roy of Conroe and Kay Camillo and husband Pat of Conroe; stepdaughter, Margaret Yocum and husband Jim of Conroe; son, Robert L. Shaw and wife Sharon of Kingsville; stepson, James Clayton and wife Leona of Wagner, Oklahoma; sisters, Alberta Jean Barnett of Baltimore, Maryland and Margaret Bales and husband Roy of Chocktaw, Oklahoma; brother, August E.. Kessler and wife Barbara of Vermont; and twenty-six grandchildren. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in her name to the Bandina Christian Youth Camp, Archie Waldrum Session, P. O. Box 3383, Alice, TX 77833, Attn: Sandy Wilson. Myrtle was such a kind, sweet spirited, woman. She had a special way with the children at Camp Bandina. I remember her rocking many homesick children and offering them peppermints. She always found time to give foot rubs to the staff. She will be missed and remembered fondly by many people.
