Nacoma Travis Swatsky

Nacoma Travis Swatsky, 84, of Rome RR3, Rome Twp., Pa., passed away Saturday afternoon, July 10, 2010, at the Sayre House, Sayre, Pa.

Born June 12, 1926, in Providence, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Archie and Susie Simpson Travis.

Nacoma was a graduate of Sturgis High School, Sturgis, Ky.

On Dec. 30, 1944, she married John Swatsky, who preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 2002. Nacoma was employed by the board of education, Piscataway, N.J., as secretary to the assistant superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services for 26 years.

Nacoma was a member of SS Peter and Paul Church, Towanda, Pa., the New Jersey Education Association, the New Jersey Retired Secretaries Association, and the River Road Fireman's Ladies Auxiliary, Piscataway, N.J.

Nacoma loved fishing in her pond.

Surviving are: her daughters, Nellie Swatsky Towers and her husband William of Rome RR 3, Joan N. Willman of Morristown, Tenn., Sandra Lynn Swatsky and partner Tom Bassford of Industry, Maine, and Jennifer S. Bourget and her husband Richard of Bowdoinham, Maine; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Martinez of Madisonville, Ky., as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Nathaniel Travis, Claude Travis and Boyce Travis, and her sister Mabel Dame.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor David Martin, chaplain of the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pa., officiating. Interment will follow in SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, N. Towanda Twp., Pa.
