Nan passed away suddenly from heart failure on Saturday, February 18, 2012. She was happy and on her way to lunch with her sister when she felt dizzy and wanted to go back and lie down, where she passed away peacefully within a few minutes. If she had to go that would have been the way she would have chosen. So for us not to mourn but be content that she, right to the end, was still able to "do it her way!" And she would be smiling at that. She is predeceased by her husband Ralph, parents Tom and Louise Rodie, brother John. She is survived by her sister Edie Rodie. Nan graduated as a wonderful nurse at Gault Hospital in Lethbridge. She nursed at many hospitals in Calgary, before becoming the nurse at the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede. She was active in Occupational Health Services, the Alberta Association of Registered Nurses and highly thought of by all her St. John's Ambulance Services associates for 30 years. This week she received an invitation to the Queen's Jubilee Gala in Edmonton. Nan lived for many years in DeWinton where she raised Welsh ponies and participated in horse showing judging and started DeWinton Pony Club. Her wish was to have her body donated to Health Science Services. She wanted no funeral or memorial and instead have her many friends remember her as she was in her younger days. In lieu of flowers donate to favorite charity.
