Nancy Armstrong Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 27, 2025.
Nancy Lou Armstrong, 86, died last Friday (8/22/25) in Louisville, KY, surrounded by family. She was born in Jersey City, NJ, and after attending Queens College she moved to Jacksonville, FL, where she met her late husband Rev. Dr. Sherman Edwin "Bud" Armstrong. They had three children together: the late Sherman Edwin "Sean" Armstrong II, Erin Lynn & Case Odle, and Charles Kevin & Laura Armstrong. She was a deacon at the Highland Presbyterian Church of Louisville, KY, where she passionately served her community.

Nancy was beloved by the community and everyone that knew her would become her friend. She loved cooking for her family and friends, sitting in the garden with her friends, volunteering for several causes, and birdwatching. Her favorites were hummingbirds and squirrels that ate from bird feeders. Nancy is survived by her children, by her grandchildren Ashley & Derek Meeks, Ryan & Lauren Martin, Alex & Cora Armstrong, and J. Tyler Odle, by her great grandchildren Gavin & Brynn, Sebastain & Garrett, and Micah & Elijah, by her beloved cat Gordi Armstrong, by her best friends Susan & Rascal Trubey, and by many adoring friends.

Friends and Family are invited to a Celebration of Life at the Highland Presbyterian Church, 1011 Cherokee Rd, Louisville, KY, 40204, on Saturday, August 30th, 2025, at 1 pm.

She was my second mom and Bud my second dad. Neither were very opinionated, just kidding, but you always knew where they stood. Nancy had a heart the size of Texas as did Bud. Nancy will always have a prime spot in my heart. She will be missed by many but heaven is happy to add her to the Armstrong clan. I know it was one heck of a reunion, Nancy, Bud, and Sean.

Oh, the times we had, starting years ago at one of the Riverside senior residences. Cooking up great pots of this and that. Planting gardens and sharing stories. We did lead a charmed life!
