Nancy Kopet Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 26, 2025.
Nancy Louise Kopet (née Hartgrove), age 73, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, in her home in Aubrey, Texas. Born on June 14, 1952, in Minot, North Dakota, Nancy lived a life filled with love for her family, a deep appreciation for nature, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew her.

Nancy was the beloved wife of Robert Pieper and the devoted mother of five children: John Kopet (Karee), Richard Kopet (Kris), Jennifer Handwerk (Brian), Roberta Coffey (Doug), and Sara Jutz (Joe). Her legacy continues through her thirteen cherished grandchildren: David, Emily, Ricky, Casey, Cara, Laura, Bobbilee, Adriana, Mikaela, Guy, Nolan, Eli, and Katelyn and 6 great-grandchildren.

She is also lovingly remembered by her brothers Tom (Susan) and Mike (Nancy) along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and friends, Nancy was preceded in death by her first husband John Kopet, father Roger Hartgrove, and mother Merilee Garvey.

Nancy's greatest joy came from being surrounded by those she loved. Her home was always open to family and friends. She found such happiness simply sitting outside in her backyard listening to the sounds of nature. Whether it was birds singing or the rustle of leaves in the wind, she found peace in the natural world around her. Animals held a special place in her heart; she enjoyed being in their presence and treated them with kindness and affection.

Her radiant smile could light up any room. Nancy always had a desire to help others, always ready to lend a hand or offer comfort without hesitation. Her warmth and compassion left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date as the family finalizes arrangements.

I hadn't seen Nancy in years, but the memories of my times with her will be forever cherished. From childhood to adults we laughed, we cried
and we laughed some more. Till we meet again my sweet cousin.

Love and hugs to Jennifer, Rick, John, Tom and Mike

Its been a very long time since actually talking with Nancy & Bob, but when we did, she was always full of stories and smiles. And, when she moved to TX with Bob, it was very evident it was where she wanted and was meant to be. Many prayers to the direct family...she was blessed by all the special people in her life.

Nancy Kopet was One of my closest friends. Years after we worked together and she and Bob moved out state. They would visit family. She always found me for a hug and kisses. I'll miss her so much. Just memories we had still make me smile. I'll still talk to her in my prayers. Love you sister.
