Nancy Kreiter

Nancy Ann Kreiter, 50, of Bel Air, Md., formerly of Davenport, Iowa, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 30, 2007, while scuba diving during a family vacation in Key Largo, Fla. Nancy is survived by her husband, David Clissold, daughter, Kara, and son, Tyler, of Bel Air, Md.; mother, Rosalee McDaniel and husband Ron, of Riverdale, Iowa; father, Kenneth Kreiter and wife Ann, of Davenport; and by brothers and their spouses, Russell Kreiter and Janet Frimml, of Iowa City, Jon Kreiter and Kathy Kelly, of West Branch, Iowa, and the late Steven Kreiter, and by her sisters and spouses, Kathy and Ed Davies, of McGregor, Iowa, and Shelley Kreiter and Patrick Lantz, of Winston Salem, N.C.
Nancy will also be greatly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Nancy was an avid biologist and professor at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland, after receiving her PhD from the University of Maryland in Baltimore County. She inspired a love of the environment and ecology in both students and colleagues. Her love of environment and ecology extended to even spiders. These least loved of insects led her to membership in the American Arachnological Society, where she was published and well respected for her meticulous research.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made towards a scholarship fund at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. Donations may be mailed to The College of Notre Dame of Maryland, Nancy A. Kreiter Fund, 4701 North Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21210. A service will be held at the Schimunek Funeral Home in Bel Air, Md. A local memorial service to Nancy's life is anticipated for early spring.
