Nathaniel Ezra Hankins UPPER In Loving Memory of Nathaniel Ezra Hankins (July 9, 1979 - September 30, 2025).

With deep sorrow, we share the passing of Nathaniel Ezra Hankins, age 46, who died after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 9, 1979, in San Antonio, Texas, he lived a life marked by curiosity, resilience, and quiet strength.

A graduate of Marshall High School, Nathaniel pursued his love of design and engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, earning a degree in Architectural Engineering. His interest in technology led him to further studies in Computer Science at Galveston College, and he was close to completing another degree at Oklahoma State University-proof of his lifelong dedication to learning and innovation.

Nathaniel was a true Texan at heart. He cheered for Longhorn football and the Dallas Cowboys with unwavering loyalty. But his heart belonged to his beloved dog, Phoenix, his constant companion.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Cathy Hankins. He leaves behind his father, Gary Hankins; stepmother, Barbara Hankins; sister, Catherine Hankins; nieces, Jocelyn and Jade Nichols; uncle and aunt, Tim and Sally Hankins; aunt, Patricia Kincheloe; family friend, Terry Brown; and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He will be remembered for his sharp mind, gentle spirit, and quiet humor. His perseverance through illness was matched only by his grace and humility. His faith in his savior Jesus Christ helped him immeasurably with the issues his illness presented. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made on those who knew him will last a lifetime.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Special thanks to the Stem Cell Transplant Center team of nurses and doctors, the Lymphoma Center caregivers and Dr. Gillian Gunther, Radiation Oncologist for their extraordinary care, professionalism, and kindness. Their unwavering support made a profound difference in his life and in the lives of those who loved him.

A private memorial will be held to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to a cancer research organization of your choice, in memory of Nathaniel.
