DOHERTY, Neil F. (Ret. Lt., BFD Rescue 1) Of Falmouth, formerly of South Boston, passed away, on May 2, 2023. Loving son of the late Francis and Mary (Flynn) Doherty. Devoted brother of Eileen Doherty and her husband, Mike Dillon of GA, Peter Doherty of Boston, Maureen Doherty of Vineyard Haven, Christine Loughlin and her husband, Kevin of Edgartown and the late Michael Doherty. Cherished uncle of Nathan Tasato of HI, Jessica Downey of Edgartown, and Frankie Shaw of Los Angeles. Great-uncle of Isaac Love, Theo and Desmond Moore, Donovan and Namiko Tasato. Dear friend of Jerry Shea (Ret. BFD). Neil was an avid reader, great lover of history and baseball (especially Ted Williams), ardent supporter of Irish Republican causes, devout Catholic and enthusiastic participant in any and all divisive political arguments. His family is committed to carrying on Neil's well-loved pursuit of inciting discord resulting from these arguments at holiday meals for as long as is practicable, in loving memory. Visitation in the O'Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester Street, SOUTH BOSTON, on Thursday, May 11, from 5 to 8pm. Funeral Mass in St. Brigid Church, 841 East Broadway, South Boston, on Friday, May 12, at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
