Nello Peter Papi Jr., 64, of Fort Myers, Fla., and formerly of Old Forge, died Thursday at Hope Hospice, Lehigh Acres, Fla. His wife is Rose Ann Papi.
Born in Scranton, son of Nello and Louise Albanesi Papi, of Fort Myers, he was a 1974 graduate of Old Forge High School. Nello was a salesman his entire life. Furniture sales was his passion. He enjoyed life to the fullest every day. This past year was very difficult given his medical diagnosis. Nello was an avid golfer, fisherman and pool player. His most enjoyment in life came from hunting with his dad and his best friend, Paul, his brother.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are a brother, Paul Papi, Old Forge; sister, Patricia Rinaldi, Danville; daughter, Amy Szafran, Fort Myers; son, Edward Szafran, Kingston; aunts; a niece; and nephews.
His life will be celebrated with visitation and a funeral Mass on Jan. 8 at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, Fort Myers. Please remember Nello in your prayers.

Our heartfelt Condolences on the passing of Nello. He always greeted us with a smile, a heartfelt hello and a big hug. Nello was an all around great guy who will be sorely missed at family get togethers. Our hearts go out to Rose and Amy, Aunt Louise, Uncle Nello, Paul and Patti and their families. May he rest in peace.
